Do you have a passion for writing?
I
have a love and passion for writing. It’s the thing that soothes my
soul and sends me into an escape into my own created world where there
are no boundaries.
It calms me, and takes me to new heights, an escape to an unknown
world well worth the adventure. Much of my writing is the window to my
soul, an inside track into my world.
For a long time I wouldn’t share this part of me with anyone.
However it all unraveled for the world to see when I did my first
self-published book in 1997, "The Relationship Guide to Fulfillment,
Passion and Joy," and the partner web site, "TheRelationshipGuide.com"
that transformed more than 2,000 relationships.
Poetry on the other hand was a hidden passion. Why? Because it is an
inside track into my world, and it touches on very close matters of
the heart. In my world, when writing, there are no rules…Rules that
I’d spent my earlier years stuck in a remedial reading class. As a
young girl, I was placed in this “special” remedial class for students
who needed additional help with their reading skills.
So, I never thought my writing was good given I was placed in this
special class. Of course, I didn’t have perception of the other kids
that existed in this class with me. It’s hard to have perspective at
that age.
So after this experience, there were rules about writing, ways you
should write - even rules about life that I “must” follow to be good.
Hence, I created my own hidden world of rules for writing, my own
rules of life and kept them to myself instead of allowing the world to
see.
So publicly, I focused my energies on Mathematics and earned a B.S. in
Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. I got a great
job and did well, but I wasn’t very happy doing that. I finally left
my “job” in 1995 and started various other small businesses, but still
something missing. I wasn’t quite fulfilled.
Finally in 2001, one of my closest friends and I formulated
The Power,
Passion and Purpose Group. That's The P3 Group for short! It's
a revolutionary personal development and coaching company founded by
women for women. The mission is Every Woman Lives a Life of Power,
Passion and Dreams Come true.
Another passion of mine is having women see that they really do have
all that they need to be bold and live life by their own design.
Funny that I was teaching women to live passionately and to have
powerful fulfilled lives, yet my poetry was a hidden passion. I
realized keeping it a secret was compromising my integrity.
So, I open the gates and allowed my poetry to flow in early 2002
during a Poetry reading created by
The P3 Group
at a coffee shop. Friends along with myself and other local
participants joined in the reading, and after a couple of hours, my
husband noticed I still had poems stashed away that I hadn’t read.
My husband encouraged me to read as often as possible given my love
and passion for it. At an open mic night while visiting California,
the response was amazing. So, I finally believed my friends, and most
importantly in myself, and decided it was time to let go of the past
about not being a “good” writer and assembled this electronic book,
called A Passion for Poetry – A collection on Love, Loss and Life.
There’s a lot more I could say about the world of poetry by Lisa
Thomas. Each poem has it’s own time and space - it’s own life. They
all stand alone, yet they’re all connected somehow.
In some cases, you’ll see deep into my soul, and in other cases,
you’ll only scratch the surface. Either way, the beauty is in your own
exploration, in your own creativity, your own vision.
I hope it will make you smile; give you a sense of peace, happiness
and joy. Some of it may make you sad and maybe even cry. Whatever
emotions you experience, feel whatever you feel, experience whatever
you experience, and enjoy the journey of love, loss and life.
Enjoy your stay at A Passion for Poetry,
browse through my collection and join me in my vision and
quest to support the lives of women.
I appreciate your time and stay here.
